SLEDGEHAMMERS and crowbars were used to break into a high-brand fashion shop on Little Clarendon Street early in the morning.

Dressed in dark clothing, the three men smashed the glass panel in the front door to enter into the men's retailer Uense at 12.30am.

Manager of Clements & Church - a shop four doors down from where the burglary happened, Jason Bezan, said: "They did not have any super serious security, so I did think it was going to happen soon.

"The shop sells clothes worth thousands of pounds, so I don't understand why they hadn't installed better security."

Mr Bezan, who passed by the scene of the crime on his way to work, said the pavement was covered with shards of glass and that burglars abandoned the sledgehammers and crowbars they used to smash the front door with in the shop.

Tha manager confirmed that the men had taken all the merchandise from Uense's clothing rails.

The three offenders fled the shop in a vehicle driving down Little Clarendon Street, turning onto Walton Street in the direction of Kingston Road.
