PEOPLE can now enjoy a new community centre that has opened today in West Oxford.

Seacourt Hall is the first facility to open on the multi-million-pound West Way development in Botley.

The space can be used for baby groups to meet, dance classes, choir rehearsals, wedding receptions, conferences and other events.

Oxford Mail:

At its launch today, groups in the local community were able to set up stalls, informing visitors about them.

The building, which is phase one of the West Way development, is also home to a new library and Botley Baptist Church.

Simon Blainey, 36, from Botley, said: "It's really nice, lovely and spacious. It's a good facility and I'm really excited about the library too."

Janet Gooden, who was an Oxfordshire County Councillor up until 2017, said she did not support the development, but after seeing the community centre complete has changed her mind.

Oxford Mail:

She said: "I fiercely opposed the whole thing. I honestly thought it would never happen but after coming here today and seeing how lovely the centre is, I've never been so pleased to be wrong."
