A DRIVER 'sped off' after hitting a classic car and hurting a girl who was standing next to it.

The girl's father has appealed for information on Facebook, following the collision in Abingdon.

Adam Martin said he and his 16-year-old daughter Alice were pushing his red 1976 Triumph Spitfire along Bridge Street, after it broke down on January 17.

They were pushing it to safety into Rye Farm Car Park nearby, when another driver pulled out of the car park 'at high speed' and hit their vehicle.

Mr Martin said his car was a 'write-off' and that the impact caused minor injury to his daughter.

He got out of the car following the collision, and Mr Martin then asked him to reverse back so he could push his Spitfire out of the road.

After reversing, he then drove off without stopping to exchange any details.

The collision happened at about 5.15pm, the Friday before last, and Mr Martin said there was lots of passing traffic.

The father, who lives in Warborough in South Oxfordshire, has since shared information about what happened on several residents' Facebook pages.
