The budget has almost doubled to replace a council's headquarters that was burned down in an arson attack.
South Oxfordshire District Council originally allocated £9.4m as the budget for the Crowmarsh Gifford building and now that budget is £17.8m.

South Oxfordshire council said: "The actual costs of our new building at Crowmarsh Gifford remain commercially sensitive until the procurement processes have come to an end, to ensure the council gets the best value from its suppliers to build the new offices."

"The council’s provisional budget papers set out the agreed budget envelope, which includes cash for contingency and other costs. It will allow us to aim for a good quality building that allows sustainability options to be incorporated."
