THE Wire edged to a nervy home win over Toronto Wolfpack this evening.

A lightning start saw Wolves go into a 16-0 lead, but the winless Canadians fought back superbly to give the hosts a huge scare.

The Wolfpack pulled the game back to 22-22, but two Stefan Ratchford penalties saw Steve Price's men home.

Gareth Widdop marked his home debut with a try, with Matty Ashton also scoring his first Super League try before limping off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Josh Charnley, Tom Lineham and Ben Murdoch-Masila also crossed for Warrington.

Toronto's tries came from Jon Wilkin and the former Warrington trio of Andy Ackers, Matty Russell and Gareth O'Brien.
