A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after a 'serious crash' in Abingdon

Ock Street in the town centre was closed in both directions yesterday after a crash between a cyclist and a car.

It reopened in the evening.

South Central Ambulance Service has now said that multiple 999 calls came in at about 2.40pm.

A rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance were first at the scene.

Pictures circulating on social media also showed at least three police cars.

The cyclist, who is in his 40s, had sustained multiple, life-threatening injuries.

He received treatment at the scene but was flown to the major trauma centre at the John Radcliffe Hosptial.
