A zookeeper from Oxfordshire is celebrating after receiving a full refund of £10,950 for a used car he bought online from Cazoo.

Dougie Ford, from Wallingford, bought his Vauxhall Astra online from used car company Cazoo and was their 1,000th customer.

He couldn't believe it when the Astra was delivered last week to his home on one of Cazoo’s transporters and at the end of the delivery he was told he would be refunded the full amount for the car, to mark the 1,000th customer milestone.

Mr Ford, 58, said: "Surprises don’t come much bigger than this - I am delighted.

"I saw one of Cazoo’s adverts on TV and then went to their website to see if they had what I was looking for.

"The whole process from buying to delivery was excellent and the customer service team extremely helpful.

"The entire experience was simple and straightforward and then they tell me I’m getting a full refund!

"I am very grateful for the surprise they sprung on me - it has been a great experience and thanks to all at Cazoo."

Mr Ford said he spent 20 years working in the area between 1995 and 2015 and moved back to Wallingford from Edinburgh last June with his wife to be closer to their children.

He added: "I recently started working as a zookeeper at a local wildlife park, where I look after the birds of prey and exotic birds. I needed the car to help with the commute between home and work.

"My daughter is getting married in the summer and my son has recently bought his first house so the refund will help towards these."
