Furious Topshop staff have taken to social media to say they were 'temporarily laid off' as the chain closed all of its 300 stores.
Topshop is owned by the Arcadia Group, owned by Sir Phillip Green.
Staff claim they were told they would receive a month's wages but told there was no guarantee of anything going forward.
In an email, they were told all stores would be such from 4pm yesterday - an hour before the Chancellor unveiled a package of measures to help businesses - and that after March the company would 'review the situation.'
Just showed up to start my shift at @Topshop to hear everyone in the business has been “laid off” till further notice and stores closed. Full pay at the end of this month and no pay further promised. They’re “reviewing what can be done”. Pathetic 🤬

Do you work for Topshop in Oxfordshire? Get in touch with us.
Along with Topshop, other stores in the company's portfolio - Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge and Burton have all closed.
Customers have also complained that items they ordered to collect in store now can't be obtained.
Received an email from @Topshop to say my order is ready to collect. Get to the store & they’re closed when website says they’re open until 8pm!! Thanks @Topshop thats a birthday present needed for Sunday!!

The Arcadia Group has been contacted for comment.
Sky News reported earlier this week that the chain had told landlords it would not be paying rent.
Revealed: Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group, owner of TopShop, becomes latest retailer in crisis-hit high street to tell landlords it won’t pay the quarterly rent bill due next week as it faces the prospect of mass, prolonged shop closures. https://t.co/AD45KXq2Uk
