AN ONLINE “community map” is to link businesses with the right good causes.

Law firm Dutton Gregory Solicitors is joining the digital enterprise aDoddle for the online launch tomorrow of the community map for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

aDoddle was launched to make it easier for people to access the right services and support – at the same time as making it easier for businesses to find organisations to get behind.

The brainchild of founder Jaki King, aDoddle’s interactive community map is intended to support charities and community projects, while connecting businesses with sponsorship and volunteering opportunities.

The map already covers the whole UK but local maps are being rolled out to better support communities.

Dutton Gregory said its support was a way of helping businesses navigate the thousand of charities in need of support, some of which lack the funding to market themselves to communities and potential sponsors, putting them at risk of closure.

Cate Battson, corporate social responsibility coordinator for Dutton Gregory Solicitors, said: “We believe aDoddle represents the highest level of community togetherness, and Dutton Gregory are proud to support such a fantastic enterprise, especially in such uncertain times. It has enabled us to help many more individuals and local organisations than previously possible.

“We hope the BCP Community Map will offer support and guidance to our clients, staff and the wider community in the coming months.”

Last year was the legal firm’s first year of application-led partnerships, with the likely causes voted on by staff. The company received more than 60 applications in two weeks, generated by word of mouth and limited social networking. Since the start of March, it has received more than 100 requests from charities.

Jaki King, founder of aDoddle and the award-winning social enterprise If Everyone Cares said: “There are so many reasons why bringing this information together is both common sense and vital for people and communities. To make it work we not only need support from businesses like Dutton Gregory, but also from the charities and community organisations themselves. Our aim is for community maps to continually react to user, community and cross-county need.”

The online launch of the BCP Community Map takes place tomorrow, Thursday March 26, at 9am. Places can be booked at event.webinarjam.com/register/13/mv94xs2
