A PLUCKY councillor has been donated a van after asking Blenheim Palace for a vehicle to deliver groceries to vulnerable people.
Merilyn Davies, a West Oxfordshire district councillor, has been given the van by Blenheim Estate so volunteers can make deliveries in her ward, Freeland and Hanborough.
She said: “I messaged the Blenheim CEO directly and he was quick to help.
“It’s really useful for us and what we’re doing.
“It’s such a relief to have it and it’s such a nice gesture from Blenheim.”

The van has been donated free of charge, is insured and will be available as long as needed.
The councillor created the Hanborough COVID-19 mutual aid group on Facebook earlier this month to help her ward.
Residents are able to place an order up to £30 with the Co-op store in Long Hanborough, which the supermarket then relays to the councillor and her team of volunteers.
“We’ve got enough champions helping out, with at least 30 signed up for the delivery service,” she said.
“The Co-op has been really helpful, it’s great to work with them and the community.”
There are also plans for the service to work with the local pharmacy.
