THE team at an Oxfordshire hospital radio station have donated £150 to help the NHS fight the coronavirus.

The trustees at Radio Horton, which broadcasts to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, gave the cash to the Oxford Hospitals Charity.

The charity is supporting staff at the Horton including those who are working in areas directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Radio Horton chairman Anthony Brown said to the hospitals charity: “We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the incredibly hard work that you and your team have undertaken and recognise the invaluable support that charity is providing to all at the Horton."

The Banbury-based hospital, health and wellbeing radio station, which is now in its 56th year of broadcasting, wanted to show solidarity with its colleagues who have been working hard to care for and look after patients.

Mr Brown continued: "As a charity ourselves, based within the Horton General Hospital, we appreciate the challenges involved with fundraising and wanted to acknowledge our full support to you through this global pandemic and to show that we stand shoulder to shoulder with everybody working in our hospitals during these difficult and unprecedented times."

Joe Baker from the Oxford Hospitals Charity expressed his thanks to Radio Horton: “Thank you so much for the kind donation and for the support that you are giving us during this challenging time.

“We'll make sure that a letter of thanks gets sent to you all, but rest assured that your donation will help make a real difference to our staff."
