THIS Oxford pub is doing its bit to help the NHS during the coronavirus – with its car park.

The offer may well prove invaluable to workers at the John Radcliffe Hospital and Oxford Children's Hospital which are just a ten-minute walk away.

Currently, free parking is not guaranteed at the John Radcliffe, even for NHS staff.

One intensive care worker recently accused the hospital of risking the spread of the coronavirus by refusing to make the car park free for all staff, and therefore potentially encouraging workers to use public transport as a cheaper alternative.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust pointed out that there are twice as many staff at the JR as parking spaces, but it also explained that it is prioritising free parking permits for staff working on wards with virus patients.

It is also in the process of assigning temporary free parking permits to some other staff.
