QUESTIONS are being asked as to why an empty hospital unit in Wantage is not being used to ease the pressure on the NHS services in the coronavirus crisis.

Oxfordshire county councillors Jane Hanna and Jenny Hannaby sent a letter to Stuart Bell – CEO of Oxford Health NHS trust – which runs Wantage Community hospital, to request a public enquiry as to why its hospital beds cannot be reopened to 'play its part' in helping the ongoing health emergency.
This comes after the Office of National Statistics revealed that the Vale of White Horse has the highest Covid-19 mortality across Oxfordshire.
