A NURSE who has worked at a local hospital for almost 50 years was given a huge bouquet of flowers after winning a competition ran by an Oswestry-based shop.

The Flower Gallery recently ran the competition for a member of staff at a the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt (RJAH) Orthopaedic Hospital, in Gobowen, to be recognised for their hard work.

People were invited to nominate a member of staff who they felt was especially deserving of the prize.

The person who got the most votes was Daniella Walker, of Whittington, who has worked at the hospital for 45 years.

Maxine Amos, of the shop at Park Avenue Stores, said she was pleased to see such a high level of interest in the competition.

She said: “We were overwhelmed by the response and received over 300 votes.

“We wish we could give everyone flowers but obviously there could only be one winner.

“We are currently running another competition for all other local care workers in other settings via our Facebook page.”
