WITH pubs allowed to open from today, many people will be looking to enjoy their first pint since March.

Here are some of Dorset’s best beer gardens, as voted for by our readers, and when you can finally revisit them.

The Bankes Arms, Studland

Scenically situated on the Jurassic Coast, the Bankes Arms opens today and offers a large beer garden and is just a short walk from the beach.

The Bankes Arms has set up an ordering app meaning customers can order and pay for food and drink from their table.

The pub said on Facebook it is not taking pre-booking and is operating on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Springhead, Sutton Poyntz

Surrounded by the countryside in Weymouth, the Springhead could be the perfect place to enjoy the first post-lockdown pint.

Posting on Facebook, the management team said bookings are “advisable” for when it opens today.

They said: “We are confident we have robust systems in place to protect our staff and customers and ask all our lovely customers to PLEASE help us by following the precautions we have put into place.”

The Anchor Inn, Seatown

A bit further afield for this one, the beach side pub looks over the coast.

They serve a host of local ales and open from 10am today.

The pub said it will be running as an outside service only and won’t be taking B&B bookings until October.

It will also be running a limited menu and accepting card payment only.

The Crown Hotel, Blandford

You’ll have to wait a little longer to visit the Crown, as it will be opening on Wednesday July 8.

But when it does open, visitors can enjoy a Georgian-style beer garden with views of the Stour River's water meadows and the town.

Posting on it’s Facebook page, the pub said: “Our reopening date is Wednesday July 8 and you’ll need to book in advance, either online or via the phone, for all food and drink visits.

“For a limited time we will be operating six days a week, 11am to 11pm Tuesday to Saturday and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.”

The Alice Lisle, Ringwood

Based in the New Forest, the large beer garden boasts river views and is a perfect stop-off for walkers and cyclists.

However, the pub won’t be opening on Saturday and will instead wait until July 15.

The Smugglers Inn, Osmington

Looking over Portland, this pub boasts sunning views and scenic footpaths.

There is a stream at the front of the pub which runs down to the sea and can be very picturesque on a sunny day.

However, visitors will have to wait an extra week to visit this pub, as it plans to open on July 12.

Fox & Hounds, Wimborne

A grade II listed building, the Fox & Hounds is surrounded by open fields and the River Stour.

The pub boasts a spacious beer garden and could be perfect for a socially distanced pint with your friends.

It won’t be opening today, however, instead waiting until Monday to open its doors.
