A SHORT break at a summer fete in 1973 saw one keen musician tuning up his trombone.
Four-year-old Julian Lashmore borrowed the instrument from a Salvation Army bandsman to see what notes he could get from it.
The fete was being held on the playing field at St Nicolas School, Abingdon.
Overall £100 was raised towards the £50,000 cost of building a new Salvation Army citadel in the town.
The Oxford Mail report of the event did not record what reaction Julian got to his tuneful playing.
