A PILE of empty oil containers was dumped on a countryside lane in a picturesque Oxfordshire village.

Vale of White Horse District Council officers are on the hunt for the restaurant behind the fly-tip in Uffington.

A number of metal and plastic containers were thrown away on the side of a road and the council is now appealing for help to trace the brazen fly-tipper.

"Somebody decided this was an acceptable thing to do.

"It is not and nor is it legal.

Many Facebook users were disappointed when the council shared a photo of the rubbish yesterday.

One commented Hayley Keep said: "It is such a shame that some people take our beautiful countryside for granted."

Another local Helen Flynn added: "Hopefully someone will solve this mystery and the person who did this will be traced."
