A SITE manager who tried to make £34,000 by abusing his position has been given a community order.

Reginald Ward, 76, of Newnham Manor, Crowmarsh Gifford, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position at Oxford Magistrates' Court.

Ward admitted that, on May 13 in Wallingford, 'having been expected to safeguard the financial interests of Oak Properties Limited and the Betts family', he 'dishonestly abused his position' by intending to:

  • Make a gain of £17,183.60 for himself
  • Make a gain, of £17,183.60 for Nicola Absolom
  • Cause loss to Oak Properties Limited and the Betts Family

Ward was made subject to a community order and must attend appointments for five days.

Ward must also pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £85 in court costs.
