Now the force is appealing for anyone who might have more information to get in touch.

PC Matt Bowden of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to this tragic incident to please come forward.

“If any motorists who were in the local area around the time this happened have dash-cams, please check any footage in case it has captured anything that could help with this investigation."

The accident happened after the Met Office issued a weekend-long yellow weather warning for wind and rain in the county.

It is not known if weather had anything to do with the accident, however the reopening of the A34 on Saturday morning was delayed by flooding in East Ilsley.

Police urged drivers to be cautious due to spray and flooding which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
