A MAN who was found carrying an adapted knife in Cowley has been spared jail.

John Kerr, of Balfour Road, Oxford, admitted possessing a scissor blade with adapted handle in Barns Road on July 8.

The 35-year-old was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months, at a hearing at Oxford Magistrates' Court.

Kerr must pay a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £85, while the scissor blade was forfeited and destroyed.
