More than 100 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Oxfordshire as the county also recorded its first death for more than three months.

According to Public Health England, as of 9am, these are the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;

  • Oxford - 34
  • Oxfordshire - 101
  • UK - 18,804

The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;

  • Oxford - 1,786
  • Oxfordshire - 5,511
  • UK - 741,212

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

The health body is including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or Public Health England laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

Across the UK a further 80 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

It takes the confirmed UK death toll to 43,726.

There were also 76 further deaths in England's hospitals announced yesterday by NHS England, including one patient at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

It was the first recorded Covid death there since July 4.

Globally, there have now been more than 40 million confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The death toll is more than a million, with the highest number of deaths in the US which has recorded almost 220,000.
