AN OXFORD music venue is hoping to broadcast music events during the second lockdown.

Paul Williams, general manager of The Bullingdon, Cowley Road, told the Oxford Mail yesterday the venue hopes to live-stream its planned music events as it did during the summer.

He said: “We have planned to do livestream, as we always thought another lockdown was on the cards.

“If we are allowed to livestream our DJ performances and band performances, we will be looking into starting it next weekend.”

He added: “It would work like our charity livestream of Supegrass playing in the club this August.”

Before lockdown the venue was hosting sit-down music events.

Mr Williams said: "We had twelve tables of six, people would come to see DJ live performances.

"Because of the size and the shape of the table, you would pay one price for a table whether there was six of your or two of you.

"We have had offers for bigger acts but we haven't financially been able to make it work at the moment with the limited numbers of tables."

Oliver Dowden, Secretary for Culture, Media and Sports, announced yesterday on his Twitter page that arts venues are allowed to reopen for rehearsals and stream performances.

He said: "Arts venues are places of work, so people can come into them for work, if it cannot be undertaken from home.

"This includes rehearsals and performance. Audiences are not permitted."

The Bullingdon are still waiting to here what this announcement means for the venue and how it will affect its plans.
