School children paid their respects for Remembrance Day by wearing their cadet uniforms.

Students at Aureus School in Didcot that belong to cadet services for the RAF, Royal Navy or Army, along with members of the Scouts and Guides, have been allowed to wear their organisation’s uniform for today.

Students and staff joined to lay wreaths in the remembrance garden to mark the anniversary of the Armistice and the last post was played.

Miss Carolyn Saul, assistant headteacher, said: “Despite the current lockdown and difficulties with the pandemic, we were determined to take part in our own tribute to the fallen here at Aureus.”

She added: “It was really encouraging to see so many of our students in their uniforms, from whichever service they belong to and we are very proud of the way they wanted to mark Remembrance Day.”
