A PILE of children's toys was illegally dumped on the side of a road in a picturesque village.

Vale of White Horse District Council officers are on the hunt for the fly-tipper who abandoned the plastic toys alongside Halloween decoration in the countryside at Sandy Lane, Hatford.

The council is now appealing for help to trace the brazen rule-breaker.

In a post on social media the council wrote: "Does anyone recognise these toys?

"These children's playthings were recently dumped along with other waste in the countryside.

"Our envirocrime team is investigating.

"If you pay someone to remove waste and they flytip it like this, you could be liable."

Furious Hatford residents commented under the post and one of them, Anne Act, pointed out that Sandy Lane is a popular dumping area.

Others like Suzanne Saunter highlighted that instead of throwing the toys away, the person could have donated them to a local charity.

Abingdon resident Kerri Ann Earl said: "Not only is it disgusting to have just dumped it all, there are many children who do not have any toys and would really appreciate things like this."
