OXFORD has been chosen for a new series of tea towels featuring Britain’s ‘favourite weekend destinations’.

As 2020 saw the rise in people going on ‘staycations’, this led to people exploring more historical cities such as Oxford.

Town Towels has now decided to celebrate these destinations and their iconic landmarks.

Oxford's towel features the iconic Headington 'shark house', the Radcliffe Camera and the historic Eagle and Child pub on St Giles.

The towel company said it had particularly tried to cut back on the environmental impact of Christmas shopping and gift-giving this year, and every stage of design, manufacturing, and distribution is completed in the UK.

Co-founder, Luke Pearce, said: “Launching a business during such a challenging year may seem risky.

Herald Series:

“We feel this is the right moment to promote British design and the wonderful imagery of this country as many are exploring its wonderful sights.”

By keeping all stages of the production in Britain, the company said it can ‘visit and select factories that pay fair wages’.

The company also plans to use distributors that focus on reducing non-recyclable waste.

The Town Towels project collaborated with British illustrator Stephen Millership.

Mr Millership said: “I was thrilled when I was asked to get involved with the Town Towels project.

“I illustrate locations that I have visited or are of particular interest to me.

“I would say a strong colour palette is a feature of my work which is a good fit for use on a cheery tea towel.”
