IT’S December, which normally means a month filled with festive activities and outings.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many of these plans and activities have been forced to be changed and altered.

However, Cumbria has also been placed under tier 2 restrictions meaning that a lot venues and shops have been allowed to remain open.

This means you can still attend some fun and unique activities this December.

Here are some events from companies in North and West Cumbria that you should look out for this month:

Christmas Wreath Class
When:
6 December, 2-4pm.
Where: The Halston Hotel, 20-34 Warwick Road, Carlisle
Cost: £55 (Included in the price is the cost of materials)

Are you feeling crafty this month? If so, this event could be perfect for you.

In the wreath making workshop you will learn about how to make a stunning festive wreath for your door.

The workshop is lead by expert floral designer, Lucy, from To A Mountain Daisy.

The event promises to be as festive as possible and festive tunes, mince pies and mulled wine will be included.

All materials for the wreath will be provided, but feel free to bring your own decorative elements if you wish.

Walby Farm Park Christmas Experience
When:
Every weekend until Christmas.
Where:  Walby Farm Park, Walby, Crosby-on-Eden, Carlisle
Cost: Children- £26.95
Adults- £16.95
Kids under one go free.

Christmas has officially come to Walby Farm Park and they have a whole host of festive activities lines up.

Here, you get to visit Christmas Village where you get to walk down Saint Nick street and write a letter to Santa in the elves post room.

The kids will also get to meet some reindeer and see what life is like inside a giant snow globe.

The little ones can also get an early Christmas present and build their own bear in Wallaby’s Teddie Tastic Workshop.

Finally it’s time to meet the big man himself and for kids to ask him if they are on the naughty or nice list.

With your Santa experience ticket, you also get full access to the farm meaning your little ones can greet the animals.

Reindeer Experience
When: 19th December, various times.
Where: National Trust - Fell Foot Park, Fellfoot Park, Newby Bridge, Ulverston
Cost: £25 per ticket

This unique event gets you out in the countryside, allowing you to explore the stunning area of Lake Windermere.

It also involves a sprinkling of Christmas as you meet some reindeers.

Park rangers will lead you on the walk; you and your family or your bubble will get up close and personal with some beautiful reindeers.

Afterwards, you will be invited to leave a letter for Santa Claus and the reindeerss will make sure he receives it in time for Christmas

However, it’s expected to be a little bit muddy so don’t forget your wellies.

Pipe cleaner snowflakes crafting day

Cost: Free to those with Museum admission or Tullie House Membership.

This free festive activity is perfect for families- and kids are sure to love it I should to love it.

During this craft event participants will make beautiful snowflakes for their Christmas tree and they will be made from pipe cleaners.

Sessions will be 45 minutes long answer to measures are in place to ensure customers safe.

After you have finished crafting, make sure to explore the rest of the museum.

Dark Skies Walk
When:
12 December, 6pm.
Where: Whinlatter Forest Park, Keswick
Cost: Standard ticket- £10

Not every event in December is linked to Christmas.

Dark Skies Walk is a unique even which gets you out into nature when the sun sets.

The walk will be between 3 and 5 miles long but can be adapted to suit your individual preferences.

Well behaved children and dogs are also welcome on the walk.

The weather is on your side you will also be able to do a spot of stargazing.

Subject to government advice a cold drink would also be provided after the night time walk so you can warm up.
