The restriction is in place because of gas main reinforcement works which are expected to be completed by January 16.
Police, fire and ambulance services are exempt from the traffic order and access to premises which are only accessed from the closed section of the road will also be allowed.
Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
