TWO more Oxfordshire GP surgeries set to roll out vaccinations for Covid-19 this week.

Church Street and Newbury Street practices in Wantage confirmed they will start administering the jabs as they received their first batches.

Initially, they will be vaccinating patients who are 80 and over, and care home residents.

A statement from the two practices said: "We will call eligible patients directly to book their appointment so please do not ring the surgery with queries.

"We would be very grateful if you could understand that we may take longer than usual to process your problems and requests but we are available as usual for urgent symptoms and emergencies."

They are currently working through contacting all care homes in Wantage and the surrounding area, and pleaded with locals to be patient.

A number of elderly already confirmed they have received calls both from Church Street and Newbury Street services, and praised the healthcare staff for their 'brilliant' work.

The two services are the first in the Wantage area to receive batches of the vaccines days after the newly-approved AstraZeneca was rolled out across the country.
