A COUPLE from Oxfordshire has featured on Channel 4’s television programme ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces’.

Paul and Cathy Tomlin, from Chipping Norton, appear in Season Ten’s second episode, renovating an old and rotting Victorian circus wagon.

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces is a television series that explores the world of small and unique builds.

In the episode, Mr Clarke visits the couple’s home to help develop the wagon into a liveable space.

Mr Tomlin was referred to as a ‘master craftsman’ on the television show, as he spent ten years working at the joinery workshop at Blenheim Palace.

The pair rescued the nineteenth-century, decaying circus wagon from Norfolk.

Mr Tomlin explains: "It is a nineteenth-century circus wagon, it could be anything from the 1860s to the 1870s onwards."

Whilst Mrs Tomlin thought the project was 'delusional', the Chipping Norton couple, with help from Mr Clarke, converted the circus wagon into a cosy room for two.

The wagon contains a double bed, a kitchenette with a sink and underfloor storage.

The toilet seat cover was rescued by Mr Tomlin when it was being thrown away from Blenheim Palace.

The Chipping Norton resident says it's 'more than likely Winston Churchill sat on it'.

Mr Tomlin wanted to design the wagon into a living space to leave for his children and grandchildren to have in the future.

He said: "The project is important from a legacy point of view.

"I want to leave it for my children to enjoy and my grandchildren to enjoy."
