A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl has appealed to Boris Johnson to halt work on the HS2 as part of her family’s ongoing protest against the plans.

In a strongly-worded letter to the Prime Minister, which was sent on Friday, Aoife-Mae wrote: “I am writing to you because I am concerned about the safety of the Euston Tunnel protesters.

“I think that they are brave and courageous (and a little bonkers) but I do not want them to get hurt.

“I want you to stop HS2; in building HS2, you are destroying ancient woodlands which are homes to thousands of animals.

“Trees are great carbon catchers and produce oxygen so that we can breath and keep our planet cool.

“Also, trees shelter you from rain and keep you cool in the heat wave.

“HS2 costs a lot of money that should be spent on the NHS or green energy.

“If HS2 is made, then only rich people can ride on it because tickets are too expensive.”

The young girl, who lives in Abingdon with her parents, also drew a little flag for the family’s protest last week.
