POLICE officers say they are ‘still smiling’ after busy week ‘spreading the love’.

This week Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse unit searched for an elderly man with dementia that had gone missing, found a lady in an alleyway who needed help, hunted for a thief and were first at the scene to serious car crashes.

Writing on Twitter, the officers wrote: “Happy Valentine’s Day from our team to you. Abingdon neighbourhood team have been out spreading the love this week in the community.”

Here’s what they got up to:

  • Neighbourhood officers visited three homes that had been closed by the courts for anti-social behaviour to check nobody was breaking the rules.
  • PSCO Blood and Highmoor searched for an elderly man with dementia that had gone missing. He was later found in Oxford.
  • PSCO Atkins and Horner were first at the scene to multiple crashes on Oxfordshire roads.
  • PSCO Blood and Atkins responded to a fear for welfare of a lady found in an alleyway. She was reunited safely with her family.
  • PSCO Highmoor and Blood attended reports of fraud and attempted frauds on elderly people.
  • PSCO Blood and Atkins searched for a man after an attempted shoplifting and then went back to check on security and shop staff.
  • The same duo searched for a scrambler bike being ridden in South Abingdon and then went on a mission to hunt a man who had failed to appear at court.

Writing in the Twitter post, officers said: “We carried our foot patrol in all weathers, rain, snow and ice and still kept smiling.

“Have a good week, remember to look out for each other.”
