A TRIO of World War One medals from South Oxfordshire have fetched £2,200 at a popular auction.
Auctioneers Mallams, who organise a monthly sale in Abingdon, revealed that the top selling lot for February were three medals that were sold for a hammer price against an estimate of £100 to £200.
The trio, comprising a Star medal, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, belonged to Sergeant Robert Ferguson, and each of them was inscribed with his details.

Another antique that well-exceeded estimates was an Anglo-Indian ebony box with a carved floral design, which is believed to be from the 18th or 19th century.
It sold for £700, well above its conservative £30 to £50 estimate.
Mallams are now inviting entries for its next sales, so anyone interested is asked to contact them.
