LAYLA Moran, MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, urged her constituents to book their appointments as she visited the large-scale vaccination centre at the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust gave the Liberal Democrat a tour of the facility on Saturday.

Latest figures reveal that nearly a third of people in Oxford have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

NHS data shows that 37,604 people had received a vaccine jab by February 28 – equating to 30 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those vaccinated, 17,355 were aged 65 or over – 91 per cent of the age group.

This means that 20,249 people aged between 16 and 64 have received a first dose of the vaccine.

The MP praised the NHS workers for their efforts and hard work, and reminded her constituents to book their appointment when they have the opportunity.

Furthermore, she assured people that the vaccination process is 'even quicker and easier' than she imagined.

Speaking after her visit, Ms Moran commented "Thank you so much to the incredible NHS staff and volunteers for their incredible work protecting our community one vaccine at a time.

"The operation at the Kassam Stadium is very impressive indeed.

"I cannot thank the NHS enough for their sacrifices and amazing efforts.

"The coronavirus vaccination operation in Oxfordshire – from designing the vaccine to giving it to our residents – is second to none.

"I am urging all my constituents to book their appointment when they hear from the NHS.

The number of people in the UK who have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has now surpassed 22 million, while more than one million people have now received their second dose.
