A SCHOOL that gave out its own branded face masks is reaping the rewards now students are back inside the classroom.
Pupils in England returned to schools on Monday after most students spent 2021 learning remotely.
For Larkmead School in Abingdon, the decision to have school-branded masks made has been a positive one, with pupils at secondary schools now advised to wear a mask.
The Faringdon Road school introduced its own face masks back in October.
The school’s headteacher, Jonathan Dennett, said: “We wanted to make sure that every student had a mask, so by providing a Larkmead one, we knew everyone would be well equipped.
“The masks are black and have three swoosh lines, which are part of the school uniform that represent the school.
“The masks themselves are not part of the uniform, and students can wear their own.
“Because of their design and that they don’t have Larkmead written on them, there’s no reason why pupils can’t wear them outside school too.
“The masks are reusable and washable, that was important to us and the students that they were more environmentally friendly than the single-use masks.
“We gave the masks out in October free of charge, and if a student needs a spare mask, then these ones can be provided with a small cost.
“We’ve really emphasised to students the importance of wearing a mask as they protect everyone – those they love, the school community and everyone around them.”
