FOUR electric chargers for vehicles have been installed at a retail park in Abingdon where a number of new major businesses will open branches soon.

Drivers can now stop for a quick recharge whilst doing their weekly food shop at the Fairacres Retail Park on Marcham Road.

The new InstaVolt chargers can be accessed with a contactless payment card, with no prior registration or unnecessary account required to use the network.

The charging location were installed on Monday ahead of the Lidl, Costa Coffee, Gym Group and Homebase store openings later this year.

Richard May, director of Mays Properties commented: "With a segregated cycle and pedestrian path along the stretch of the Marcham Road adjacent to Fairacres and the excellent links from this into the Retail Park, our site is very well connected for sustainable transport and we are always pleased to see the regular usage of these cycling facilities.

"We have improved footpath links into and across the Retail Park, particularly to two of the largest employment sites in the town, Abingdon Business Park and Miele.

"There is a very high pedestrian footfall from these sites to the Retail Park throughout the day, and particularly in the middle of the day with people visiting at lunchtime."
