A TALENTED ten-year-old girl from Oxfordshire has reached the finale of a photography competition for youngsters aged ten to 18.

Violet Rowe from Wantage is amongst 13 other finalists shortlisted for an RSPCA online photo competition that features favourite animals and picture perfect pets.

The award is given to the best photo of an animal taken on a mobile device.

The young girl impressed judges with her 'Leaping round the garden' picture of an adorable grey kitten captured while standing on its back legs.

The winner of the RSPCA's competition will receive £100 worth of vouchers from Amazon.co.uk, an RSPCA Young Photographer Awards trophy and a certificate.

In this part of the competition, there is a special online poll, named ‘People’s Choice’, for the public to pick their winning photo from the Mobile Phone and Devices category featuring three age groups of Under 12s, 12-15s and 16-18 year olds plus the Picture Perfect Pets category.

Voting opened on Tuesday and supporters are urged to cast their vote for their favourite snap until Tuesday, March 16, at 12.30pm.

The winner will then be announced on the RSPCA's Facebook page the day after.

Other eye-catching entries feature a dog looking eagerly at the front door as a letter is posted, a collie at sunset and a gaggle of geese walking along a road.

In December 2020, the overall winners of the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards 2020 were announced following the official judging by a panel of photographic experts including RSPCA Vice President Chris Packham and industry professionals.

Youngsters inspired to submit their work for the 2021 round can do so when entries open on May 4.
