A PUPIL at Didcot Girls' School has died after suffering an 'extremely unusual' medical episode.

Police have confirmed the 11-year-old girl passed away at the John Radcliffe Hospital in the early hours of this morning.

They said her death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

Detective Inspector Peter Scott based at Cowley police station said: “This is a tragedy and our thoughts and condolences are with the girl's family, friends, pupils and staff at Didcot Girls' School, at this very difficult time.

“We would ask, on behalf of the girl’s family, for their privacy to be respected.”

The headteacher of Didcot Girls' School shared the school's condolences after the beloved pupil's untimely death.

Headteacher Georgina Littler, said: "A member of our school community sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

"We send our sincere sympathies and condolences to the family at this very difficult time.

"We are deeply saddened by this news which was the result of an extremely unusual medical episode.

"We will be supporting all of the students and staff in our school community over the coming days and weeks.

"We ask that the family's privacy is respected as they seek to come to terms with this tragedy."
