South Oxfordshire has seen the biggest increase in house prices in the county, according to new research.

The study, by debt specialists IVA Advice, compared the average price of a house in February 2016 to February 2021, across more than 400 areas of the UK.

Overall Oxfordshire’s average house prices have increased by 11.9 per cent, which is considerably lower than the national average of 21 per cent.

Research found that the average house price in Oxfordshire in February 2016 was £331,173, and in the most recently available figures for February 2021, it stood at £370,612 – an increase of 11.9 per cent.

However, South Oxfordshire has seen the biggest house price increase over five years, up by 14.8 per cent.

South Oxfordshire saw the highest price increase, going from £382,670 in February 2016 to £439,453 in February 2021.

This increase makes it the most expensive area for houses in Oxfordshire.

Cherwell is the area with the lowest average house price in Oxfordshire, and the smallest increase in the past five years. In February 2016 the average was £277,190, and has increased by 10.17 per cent to £305,406.
