The new Mayor of Didcot has said he was 'proud and honoured' to be elected as the first Asian mayor of the town.
Mocky Khan, who was previously leader of the council, said: "I am proud and honoured to be elected as Mayor of Didcot. Didcot is changing and I am pleased to be the first Asian to be elected mayor. This shows the growing diversity in Didcot. "
Mr Khan also announced that he hoped to raise money for two charities during his mayoral year – Play2Give and Coeliac UK.
He chose Play2Give – run by Didcot man Andy Baker to raise money for Oxford Children's Hospital – because it is a 'great local charity' and Coeliac UK as his nine-year-old daughter has coeliac disease.
