Residents are concerned for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists who use Thrupp Lane to access 'hidden gem', Radley Lakes.

Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, met with members of Thrupp Lane Residents’ Association and Friends of Radley Lakes to discuss the future of the area, including the proposed Radley Lakes 'Masterplan' and safety issues on Thrupp Lane for pedestrians and cyclists.

After the visit, Layla Moran MP said: “I’d like to thank members of Thrupp Lane Residents’ Association and Friends of Radley Lakes for meeting with me yesterday to discuss the future of the area.

"The area is a hidden gem right on Abingdon’s doorstep, and has provided much-needed green space during lockdown. It was great to hear about the proposed Radley Lakes Masterplan to make sure the area is a haven for conservation and recreation."

The MP added that she saw for herself the 'risks' posed to walkers and cyclists by HGVs and lorries and can understand why residents in the area are concerned.

She added:" A long-term sustainable solution is needed to make access safer for people visiting Radley Lakes. In the meantime, it’s important that Thrupp Lane is made safer for all users.”
