Youth amateur dramatic group DIY theatre, has been working hard throughout lockdown to produce their next production of Oliver.
Oliver! is based on Charles Dickens’s classic story of the young orphan, Oliver, who one day fatefully asks for more food. From that moment his life will never be the same, as he is sold to an undertaker, before running away to London to seek his fortune.
The East Oxford theatre group started more than 10 years ago with one production in Sunningwell village hall.
It has since grown to making three or more productions a year of which the summer ones are performed in Oxford twin towns Grenoble, Bonn and Padua as well as in Oxford.
However, this year the pandemic brought its challenges and the theatre group have been persevering through online rehearsals and learning songs over Zoom.
The musical will be performed at at Amey Theatre, Abingdon on Friday July 30 at 7pm, Saturday July 31 at 2.30pm and 7pm, and Sunday August 1 at 2.30pm. All details for bookings can be found at www.ameytheatre.co.uk
