ONE of Britain’s oldest family-owned stately homes is hosting family friendly summer festival full of fun activities to keep everyone entertained throughout August.

To kick off the school summer holidays, Stonor Park, located in Henley has announced that it will host its first ever Sparkle Bright Flower Summer Festival of Fun.

The special day out for families will be held throughout August in the park’s children’s adventure playground, Tumblestone Hollow, which opened earlier this year.

Complete with bubbles, bunting and impressive Sparkle Bright Flower pillars, the festival of fun will be buzzing with activity.

At Easter Stonor Park revealed a new attraction – a £250,000 adventure playground which is inspired by its history.

Inspired by an ancient stone circle in the grounds, the adventure playground which was part-funded by the Government's Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage, has been designed for four to 12-year-olds.

A children's book has also been published called The Legend of Tumblestone Hollow, which is based around magical characters that live in and around the playground.

At the summer festival special characters connected to Tumblestone Hollow and the accompanying book will entertain and tell stories around the stone circle. With the opportunity for face paint-style decorations and interaction with the characters, children can truly enjoy the magical world of Tumblestone Hollow.

After working up an appetite at the festival, there are plenty of places for families to picnic and enjoy lunch together. Light refreshments can be purchased from the visitor centre and the new takeaway outlet, The Rumble Hut, offers mouth-watering pizzas - all cooked in a wood-fired Gozney oven by Italian chef Salvatore. The pizza menu, which includes Pepperoni, Napoli and Caprino pizzas, has gluten-free and vegan options and is available every day in the school holidays.

“As well as having access to the playground, we wanted families to have an extra special experience that will be a good-value day out and entertain children of all ages."

Ticket prices for adults and children over 105cm are £9.50, with those for children between 92cm and 105cm costing £7.50 and kids below 90cm going free. All activities for the festival are included in the ticket price.
