Actor Ella Rose Lyon has made it to the regional finals of one of the worlds biggest acting events, the World Monologue Games.

The actor from Abingdon submitted an entry to the games, a global event which attracts thousands of competitors from 51 countries each year.

Ella said: “I am so excited that I get to compete for my country doing what I love. It is really fantastic to be a part of this amazing event.”

The competition was launched last year by Aussie Pete Malicki, who wanted a lockdown-friendly platform for performers. Mr Malicki said: “It is definitely special to have our second season take place in an Olympics year. We have the best performers from 51 countries all getting together to show the world what they’re made of. I am not sure where else you can see such a diverse range of actors all in the same place.”

Ms Lyon has been selected with a monologue about a girl called Lucy with an imaginary friend.

The regional finals will be livestreamed until October, with the winners of six different categories competing for $5,000 cash in the finals.
