Dirty surfaces, no soap and greasy walls has caused an Indian restaurant to score a one star food hygiene rating.

Delhi Brasserie on 66-67 High Street in Wallingford, was given a one star food hygiene rating meaning major improvement is required.

In an unannounced visit from the council inspectors on September 9, the Indian restaurant was found to have several problems that were repeated from a previous visit.

In the full hygiene report it reveals the restaurant had no soap or 'hygienic' drying facilities such as paper towels.

Touch points in the restaurant and kitchen were found to be dirty, this included light switches and door handles.

Inspectors also told the restaurant it requires a 'deep clean' after they found grease build up on the walls, in pipes, under the sink and in the ventilation filters.

Potential contamination and bacteria was a concern as pots of raw chicken had been left on the floor uncovered. The restaurants has been informed that food should be covered and kept in the fridge to prevent contamination.

Some of the containers used to store food were also damaged.

In the full hygiene report the inspector comments on a large pot of rice that was left cooling on the floor for the entire visit. The restaurant has been warned that leaving food to cool slowly will increase the chances of bacteria growth.
