A POST box topper of a knitted bottle of wine has appeared in Abingdon after a woolly nativity scene vanished from the Market Place.

The mystery knitter believes their Christmas nativity yarn bomb was taken and almost did not bother to replace it in fear it would be taken again.

However, the knitter decided to replace the missing topper with celebratory yarn bomb.

The new knitted topper is of a bottle of wine and a glass with 2022 written on it to celebrate the new year.

The mystery knitter left a note on the post box, it said: "I was saddened to have my nativity topper taken, I debated not doing anymore but I had this one ready for New Year. I hope it stays and I hope you like it."

The knitter added: "Please please don't take it I have made it for all to enjoy. Happy New Year to you."
