Road closures are set to cause traffic delays in the days following New Year's bank holiday.

But drivers in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse areas will be able to take some solace in the fact that it is only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures are due to start:

• M40, from 9.30pm January 4 to 6am January 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 9 to junction 8a, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm January 4 to 6am January 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8A to junction 9, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9.30pm January 6 to 6am January 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm January 6 to 6am January 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 7pm January 10 to 11.59pm January 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm January 10 to 6am January 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• M4, from 8pm January 5 to 6am January 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 15 eastbound, exit slip closed for resurfacing, diversion via, junction 14 and return.
