POLICE officers have been 'unable' to identify the elderly victims of an assault at the weekend. 

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for any witnesses and dash cam footage from passersby. 

The incident happened at about 1.45pm on Saturday, January 15.

Police were called to the junction of Lambrick Way and Preston Road where an elderly couple had been reportedly pushed and a man was getting close to their faces. 

In an appeal online, the force explained: “We have been unable to identify the elderly victims. If you were one of these victims, please contact us with the below reference number.”

A 24-year-old man has been arrested for assault and released under investigation. 

Investigating officer PC Andrew Gunn, based at Abingdon police station, said: “I would like to appeal to anybody who may have been in the area and witnessed this assault or were driving past and have dash cam footage, to please get in touch.

“Alternatively, for 100 per cent anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
