A community led choir is inviting people to join as they celebrate their successful relaunch.

The Wallingford Tuneless Choir held its first event of the year at the beginning of January under the new leadership of Tracy Noble.

The choir is designed for people who love singing but may lack the ability, practice or confidence to do so.

Mrs Noble said: “We are active again, and hoping to get out and about singing more in public.

“We do not care about ability" she added, "We just want people to come along and have fun. Singing is great for mental health and wellbeing."

Mrs Noble would like to invite singers of all ages and abilities to join the choir. She said: “It would be good to get some male voices. Choirs tend to be female dominated.”

“We also have more of an older generation, and I would like to try and get some younger people involved.”

After the relaunch, the choir chose Wallingford Food Bank as their chosen charity.

Last year they planned to have a raffle at their Christmas party, which got cancelled because of the ongoing pandemic

The raffle finally went ahead in January, where they raised a bit over £100 for the food bank.

Mr Noble explained: “It was a group decision to support the foodbank. We know that people are struggling these days. Because we have such a community spirit, we decided to support a local charity."

The choir meets every Thursday at St Mary’s le More church in Wallingford town centre.
