Lorna, who teaches in the Oxford Hospital School said: “We have never done anything like this before and it felt really daunting when we first started.

“It has been a real challenge to get in the water at times, especially when the wind is blowing and there is ice at the edges or thick fog!”

Alison, who works in pastoral support at Thameside Primary School, said: “We wanted to help The Abingdon Bridge with the amazing work they do for young people.”

The justgiving page says: "Neither of us have ever swum in the winter...or even on cooler summer days! We have decided to brave the water without wetsuits as a challenge to promote maintaining positive mental health and to support the local charity The Abingdon Bridge."

So far £515 has been raised.
