A NEW art exhibition that reflects on an artist's visits to Venice is on display.
Venice, on reflection an exhibition of painting and collage by George Fox will be exhibited at the Sewell Centre Gallery, Radley College, near Abingdon.
Mr Fox is an artist from Wantage. He has led a career in art education in Oxfordshire, teaching to A Level, pre- university and foundation degree level. Now his artwork, inspired by trips to Venice that were often accompanied by students will be displayed at the college.
Mr Fox said: "It is a city that never fails to impress, with its vast wealth of art, architecture, culture and history. It is a city that keeps on giving."
The artworks were created during the pandemic just as another trip to Venice had to be put on hold.

He said: "In arranging this show, I did not expect to be producing work during a pandemic lockdown. A cancelled visit to Venice planned for the spring of 2020 motivated much mulling over of ideas regarding the subject matter and approach I might pursue."
Mr Fox said that over the pandemic he read many books about Venice, both fact and fiction, which gave him a "defined insight" into how his exhibition would develop.
Venice, on reflection, will be at the Sewell Gallery from February 25 to March 24, open Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday 1-5pm or other days by appointment (contact Amanda Jewell acj@radley.org.uk or call the Art Office 01235 543039).
